About the Team
The Quality Engineering (QE) team helps build high-quality software efficiently by enabling engineers to build highly testable systems. We own and continuously improve test cases, automation coverage, test automation tools, environments, and frameworks.
We navigate massive codebases to identify weak spots, and help design and implement testable, fault-tolerant systems.
The Role
As a Senior Quality Engineer, Mobile (Android), you will drive quality across Android product experiences by building scalable test automation, strengthening testability in the app architecture, and partnering closely with product engineering teams. You'll help evolve our testing infrastructure and frameworks, influence engineering decisions, and lead cross-team quality initiatives with high impact.
What You'll Do
Build and Scale Test Automation
• Develop, execute, and maintain automated tests to ensure robust coverage for new features and releases.
• Partner with Android product engineering teams to improve testability and integrate testing into development workflows.
• Continuously improve testing strategy, tooling, and processes to raise quality and release confidence.
Own Testing Platforms and Infrastructure
• Build, maintain, and support testing infrastructure, environments, tools, and applications using distributed systems expertise.
• Improve reliability, performance, and scalability of test frameworks and automation pipelines.
• Make architectural trade-offs and apply design patterns to support a highly-available 24x7 ecosystem.
Drive Cross-Team Execution and Technical Leadership
• Lead projects, define roadmaps, and drive cross-collaboration across multiple engineering teams.
• Influence engineering decisions with partners across design, product, data science, and research.
• Act as a high-performance team member with a strong commitment to craft, operational excellence, and code quality.
Qualifications:
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of mobile development experience, or 2+ years with a PhD in a fast- paced, high-growth tech environment.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Java, and Espresso.
Technical Expertise
• Proven experience building test automation frameworks and infrastructure for Android applications at large scale.
• Demonstrated ability to improve testability through architecture, tooling, and engineering best practices.
• Experience developing or testing distributed systems and platforms.
• Strong knowledge of building reliable systems in highly-available production-like environments.
Leadership & Collaboration
• Excellent communication skills and experience working with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Hands-on technical leadership: leading projects, shaping strategy, and defining roadmaps.
• Ability to solve ambiguous problems, drive alignment across teams, and deliver solutions with significant impact.
Nice to Have
• Experience with CI/CD systems for mobile test automation at scale.
• Familiarity with flaky reduction strategies, test analytics, and observability for automation systems.
