Job Summary: Kubernetes EKS Administrator

We are seeking an experienced Kubernetes EKS Administrator to join our team. As a Kubernetes EKS Administrator, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining Kubernetes clusters within the Amazon EKS platform. Your expertise will ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of our containerized applications.

Responsibilities:

Underlying Cluster Infrastructure:

  • Design, deploy, and manage Kubernetes clusters on Amazon EKS.
  • Configure and optimize worker nodes, networking, and storage.
  • Monitor cluster health and capacity.

Monitoring Kubernetes Metrics:

  • Set up monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) to track cluster performance.
  • Analyze metrics related to resource utilization, pod health, and scaling.

Service Management:

  • Create and manage Kubernetes services (LoadBalancer, NodePort, ClusterIP).
  • Ensure service discovery and load balancing for microservices.

Managing Pods & Deployments:

  • Deploy and manage pods using YAML manifests.
  • Handle rolling updates, scaling, and rollbacks.
  • Implement deployment strategies (e.g., blue-green, canary).

Configuring Networking & Services:

  • Set up network policies, ingress controllers, and DNS resolution.
  • Integrate with AWS networking services (VPC, Route 53, ALB/NLB).

Troubleshooting Cluster Components:

  • Investigate and resolve issues related to pods, nodes, and networking.
  • Debug application failures and performance bottlenecks.

Managing Role-based Access Control (RBAC):

  • Define RBAC rules for users and service accounts.
  • Ensure secure access to cluster resources.
  • Using PersistentVolume & PersistentVolumeClaim:
  • Configure and manage persistent storage for stateful applications.
  • Set up storage classes, PVs, and PVCs.

Configuring ConfigMaps & Kubernetes Secrets:

  • Create and manage ConfigMaps for configuration data.
  • Securely manage secrets (e.g., API keys, passwords) using Kubernetes Secrets.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 4-6 years of hands-on experience in Kubernetes administration, specifically within Amazon EKS.
  • Kubernetes Knowledge: Proficiency in managing Kubernetes clusters, including pod deployment, networking, and troubleshooting.
  • AWS EKS: Familiarity with Amazon EKS services, worker nodes, and integration with other AWS components.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IAC): Experience with tools like Terraform or CloudFormation for infrastructure automation.
  • Security Best Practices: Awareness of Kubernetes security controls and RBAC.
  • Collaboration Skills: Effective communication and teamwork.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate
